The Pennsylvania System of School Assessment, also known as the PSSA, measures student achievement of the State’s academic standards for reading, mathematics, science and writing. By using these standards, educators, parents and administrators can evaluate their students’ strengths and weaknesses to increase scores.
However, assessment scores just represent a snapshot in time of student performance and should not be considered the sole indicator of student achievement.
Standardized assessments, like the PSSA, help Pennsylvania meet federal and state requirements, as well as provide educators, stakeholders, and policymakers with important information about the commonwealth’s students and schools, and inform instructional practices.
Our 4th grade students will be tested in English Language Arts (ELA), Math and Science. All other students at Kelly and Turner Elementary Schools, grades 3rd, 5th and 6th, will just be tested in ELA and Math.
The 2017 test schedule is as follows:
ELA: April 3-6, 2017 (Grades 3-6)
Mathematics: April 24-28, 2017 (Grades 3-6)
Science: May 1-5, 2017 (4th Grade)
Make-up Days: May 8-12, 2017
