Donuts with Dads/Muffins with Moms |
At Kelly School, we recognize the importance of strong parental involvement to the academic success of our children. The positive reinforcement and encouragement that students receive in the home enables them to develop confidence in themselves and their abilities. To honor the many contributions of our students' parents, we host special morning events several times a year called "Donuts with Dads" and "Muffins with Moms."
During these programs, parents enjoy a special program put on by students, thanking them for all that they do. Students also have the chance to serve their parents a special breakfast as a sign of their gratitude.

Grandparents Day |
Many of our students are fortunate to have grandparents who play a significant role in their home lives. Our students thus look forward every year to honoring these important family members on Grandparents Day. Under the direction of our dedicated team of teachers, students prepare a program that includes song and poetry to show their appreciation to their grandparents.

Halloween Dance |
Each year, Halloween gives students the chance to express their creativity and have fun. This year, fifth and sixth graders at Kelly were invited to attend a special Halloween Dance put on by members of Student Council. Students enjoyed refreshments, dance music, and the chance to interact with old and new friends.

Cleveland Cavs' Gane Entertainment Crew Visits Kelly |
The Cleveland Cavaliers were in Pittsburgh to take on the Dallas Mavericks in a preseason exhibition game at the University of Pittsburgh's Peterson Events Center October 20, 2009. That afternoon, the Cavaliers Game Entertainment crew--the Cavalier Girls dance team, hip hop troupe the Scream Team, and mascot Moondog--made a special visit to students at Kelly Elementary to demonstrate how much fun learning can be!
During the visit, the Cavalier Girls and Scream Team interacted with students in a number of different ways, visiting classrooms to read, exercise and have fun while exposing the students to Cavaliers' programs such as "Read to Achieve," "Fit As A Pro," "Head of the Class" and "All Star Kids." These programs encourage students to develop a life-long love for reading, develop exercise and well-balanced eating habits, and encourage students and teachers alike to stand out and make a difference in other people's lives.
