| Congratulations to Mr. Casey Feldman's physical education students for their excellent performance in the President's Physical Fitness Challenge. Pictured standing left to right are: Steven Freudenthal, Lamarr Washington, William Bennett, Shannon Delaney, Courtney Cancel and Sonya Raynor; and seated left to right are January Johnston, Eboney Peterson, Lakeisha Wright and Bruce Mullen.
The President's Physical Fitness Challenge helps students improve their muscular strength, muscular endurance and cardio-respiratory endurance. It also provides students a chance to work with real world math and measurement of their performance. Students team up in groups of three. One student takes the challenge, while a second spots or assists and a third records times or repetitions. Then everyone switches. Aspects of the challenge include the number of sit-ups students can do in a minute, the number of push-ups in a minute, how far students can jump in the standing long jump, and how many times a student can "shuttle run" back and forth between two points. Students will soon also do a timed one-mile run. As Mr. Feldman says, "We're proud of all of our students who do their best in school and in physical fitness."
