BUTTERFLY EFFECT

10/21/08

Second grade students at Johnston Elementary witnessed the butterfly effect full circle. As part of the Asset Science curriculum, teachers and students raised Painted Lady butterflies.

The caterpillars arrived on September 24th and entered chrysalis (encased in a hard cocoon) on October 4th. Ten days later, the butterflies emerged. Students fed the butterflies sugar water and apples. On October 21st, the students released the butterflies back into their natural environment.
