| Just under 250 Turner Elementary students cast their ballots for the future President of the United States on October 29, 2008.
One by one, students in grades K-6 waited in line to drop their ballots in the voting box.
"We wanted to introduce our students to the voting process," said Christine French, Principal. "In all our classrooms, we made sure the teachers coordinated healthy dialogues about the importance of voting, responsibilities of the elected positions, and the process of voting."
As November 4th approaches, schools officials wanted to encourage students to take what they learned in school and apply it to their home life.
"The important lesson here is instill that every vote matters; we hope our students hold on to this lesson through their adult life and encourage their families to uphold their civil responsibilities," Principal French concluded.
