| Ms. Kenya West, a fifth grader at Turner Elementary was recently honored by the PA Attorney General's office for her entry in the anti-drug poster contest. Contestants made artwork around Attorney General Jerry Pappert's theme of "Team Up Against Drugs." It all began in November, when students in Ms. Anita Gassette's art classes made anti-drug posters as part of National Drug Free Awareness Week. Kenya's poster was one of two that Turner students voted to enter in the state contest. Winning art will be featured on the pages of the Attorney General's 2005 anti-drug calendar. Ms. West's artwork was chosen for the April 2005 page.
Kenya was also honored with a special luncheon at the Attorney General's office in Harrisburg, as well as with a US Savings Bond. Congratulations, Kenya! We're extremely proud of you and of your artistic and creative talents! |
