This is an important message for all teachers, parents and students.
As you know, we have been working hard throughout the summer and into the early fall to reopen the newly-renovated Turner Intermediate School. Our teachers began unpacking their new rooms in the building on Thursday and Friday, in anticipation of students starting in the new space on Monday, Oct. 7.
On Friday, we were informed that the on-site construction crew requires a few more days to complete all tasks. The goal of the School Board and the Superintendent is to ensure students always are in a safe environment. Therefore we are delaying the start of school at the new Turner until Wednesday, Oct. 9.
To accommodate the additional days, the District will cancel classes for all students at Kelly and Turner on Monday, Oct. 7 and Tuesday, Oct 8. School will reopen for all students on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Turner Intermediate students will report to the new Turner at that time. The Teacher Professional Development Day originally scheduled for Friday, October 11 has been cancelled and instead all teachers and students will report to school for the full instructional day.
We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through these unforeseen issues. We look forward to celebrating the opening of this incredible building with our community on Oct. 29, and to continuing to work together to ensure that Every Child, Every Day Matters.
