Today our new superintendent Dr. Linda Iverson met and spoke to board members and District employees at an in-service day luncheon. She is a great match for our District, and knows first hand the kinds of challenges our students face. “I am the Wilkinsburg student,” she said in her opening remarks.
Growing up in the poor parts of Washington, D.C. with four siblings and never enough lunch money, Iverson never thought about going to college until her principal and teachers inspired and encouraged her to. It was through school and the staff there that Iverson felt safe and began to dream.
We’d like to thank all our staff and teachers for their hard work and the little things they do everyday to inspire self-confidence in our students. We can hardly wait for the new school year to begin.
