Using “Number Sense,” fifth grade students collaborate with their classmates to determine how to evenly distribute the cost of Thanksgiving groceries between four friends. Students then drew pictures and wrote out explanations of their reasoning to show how they solved the problem. The variety of strategies the students used was fascinating!

Three of our gifted 6th grade students from Turner Elementary School participated in Duquesne University’s CalcuSolve math tournament for 7th & 8th graders. It put their problem-solving skills to the test! We are so proud of them for competing against older students. They also had the opportunity to explore parts of the campus.
Yesterday, Turner and Kelly Elementary School students in prekindergarten through first grade went on a field trip to see the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra live at Heinz Hall.
