School Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Support at Wilkinsburg MS/HS

On August 31, 38 Middle School and High School faculty, staff, and security personnel  as well as the the building principals participated in professional development training to support the implementation of School Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (SWPBIS).  SWPBIS is the application of evidenced-based strategies and systems to assist schools in increasing academic performance, increasing safety, decreasing problem behavior, and establishing positive school cultures.  The session was led by presenters LeAnna Lawson and Carrie Frohnapfel from the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. Initially students will be recognized for appropriate behaviors in the hallways and cafeteria with the expectation that they “Be Responsible,” “Be Respectful,” and “Be Safe.”
