Second Grade Reading Intervention Group Visits Kindergarten Class to Perform Play

Posted in: Wilkinsburg School District News

Mrs. Morrow’s 2nd grade reading intervention group visited Mrs. Meszaros’ kindergarten class to perform a play from a book titled The Great Big Enormous Turnip. It was a fun way for the students to get extra reading practice, and they did such an amazing job. Mrs. Meszaros says “my class really enjoyed listening to them.”

Students in the Leveled Literacy Intervention program receive extra reading support everyday of the week. An extra 35 minutes is built into their schedules with the goal that they will gain or maintain the skills needed to be a successful reader. Students start on their current reading level and receive close monitoring, guidance and support in small group settings to advance them to grade level reading standards.

Their hard work is paying off, and we couldn’t be more proud!
