Michael A. Johnson

Vice President

Michael A. Johnson was born and raised in Wilkinsburg.  His desire to serve his community is a credit to the many educators who made a lasting impact on him.  As a Father concerned for his son’s social, emotional, and academic well being, the image of the schools in Wilkinsburg means a great deal to him.

Currently, he is Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Opening Doors for Kids, Inc. where he promotes the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as individuals and responsible members of their communities.  He works closely with Children, Youth and Families to provide children with shelter, help children meet educational goals as well as other needs.  He is also the Executive Producer and creator of Teen Buzz, a talk show for Teens by Teens.

In 2013, The New Pittsburgh Courier named Michael Johnson a Fab 40 Recipient for the work he does for youth throughout Allegheny County.

This year, Johnson was appointed as Chairperson of the Eastern Area Special School Joint Committee. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania School Board Association (PSBA) Federal Relations Network and serves on their editorial team.

As a Board Member of the Wilkinsburg School District, Johnson is the Board Treasurer and is on the Delinquent Tax Committee, and serves as the Co-chair of the Community Relations Committee. He is also a member of the Wilkinsburg Kiwanis Club.
