Wilkinsburg School District hosted a grand re-opening for the newly renovated Turner Intermediate School on Wednesday, Nov. 20. District administrators, school board members and faculty and staff at Turner welcomed families, members of the community and even some Turner alumni eager to take a look at the new-and-improved facility.
Guests were able to explore the new furniture and classroom designs for students in grades 2-6 as part of the open house. Flexible seating options – which research has shown to be effective in improving focus – are available in all classrooms. Dedicated space was planned for a special education suite and a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math (STEAM) lab that will encourage innovation and collaboration. On-site counseling services also are located at the new Turner.
A special thank you to the Turner staff who helped to make the grand opening a huge success, and to the community for joining us as we work together to ensure that Every Child, Every Day Matters.
