About the Program
Wilkinsburg School District is proud to offer one of the largest Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts programs in Allegheny County. This free, full-day program provides eligible students with a strong foundation for lifelong learning through a research-based curriculum, certified teachers, and engaging early childhood experiences.
The Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts program, created by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, expands access to high-quality pre-kindergarten opportunities for families across the Commonwealth. The program partners with early childhood education providers in Pennsylvania to help prepare young learners for success in kindergarten and beyond.
To be eligible for the Pre-K Counts program, a family's household income must not exceed 300% of the 2026 Federal Poverty Guidelines, as shown in the chart below. Children must also be 3 years old by September 1 of the school year in which they enroll and must be potty-trained.
