Closings and Delays

When a two-hour delay is announced:

• Bus pick-up times will be two hours later than normal. 
• School doors will open at 10:20 a.m.
• Classes will begin at 10:40 a.m.
• Breakfast will not be served.
• All after-school activities and events will be canceled unless otherwise communicated. 

If school is closed due to weather or another emergency:

• There will be no in-person classes. 
• All school activities and events are canceled unless otherwise communicated. 
• A make-up day will be scheduled if required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
• Families will be notified once a make-up date has been determined, 

In some situations, the district may use a Flexible Instruction Day (FID) instead of canceling school. 

FIDs allow students to continue learning from home during weather-related or other building emergencies such as a water main break or power outage. Because instruction continues, the day counts as a regular school day and does not need to be made up later in the school year. 

Pre-K students will be directed to complete a FID packet that is sent home in advance.

Students in Kindergarten through Grade 6 will receive instructions from their teacher and will:

• Log in to Google Classroom.
• Follow the FID schedule provided by their teacher.
• Participate in both live (synchronous) instruction and independent (asynchronous) learning activities.

Just like a regular school day, attendance is required on FIDs. Students must be present during the live attendance check-ins at 9:00 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Students who do not participate in these required live sessions will be marked absent for the day.
