Student Conduct and Bus Safety

Students are expected to:

• Follow the driver's directions at all times.
• Remain seated while the bus is in motion.
• Speak respectfully to the driver and other passengers.
• Keep hands, feet, head, and belongings inside the bus.
• Help keep the bus clean.
• Respect school property and the property of others.

Behaviors that may result in disciplinary action include:

• Disobeying or being disrespectful to the driver
• Standing or moving while the bus is in motion
• Extending hands, arms, or head out of the windows
• Throwing objects from the bus
• Using tobacco products or vaping
• Fighting, roughhousing, or horseplay
• Using obscene or inappropriate language
• Littering or disturbing other passengers
• Eating or drinking on the bus
• Tampering with the bus or its equipment
• Possessing or being under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or look-alike substances

Bus transportation is a privilege. Depending on the severity of the incident, disciplinary action may begin at any step listed below. Serious misconduct may result in immediate suspension of bus privileges.

Please note: If a student loses bus privileges, the parent or guardian is responsible for providing transportation to and from school. 

At the Bus Stop:

• Arrive at least 10 minutes early.
• Stay on the sidewalk or curb, away from traffic.
• Remain off private property.
• Wait quietly and respectfully.

Boarding the Bus:

• Wait until the bus has completely stopped.
• Make eye contact with the driver before crossing.
• Board one student at a time.
• Stay out of the bus's danger zone near the wheels.

While Riding the Bus:

• Stay seated.
• Keep aisles clear.
• Keep hands, feet, and belongings inside the bus.
• Speak quietly.
• Do not eat, drink, vape, smoke, or vandalize the bus.

Exiting the Bus:

• Remain seated until the bus stops.
• Exit carefully.
• Cross only in front of the bus after receiving the driver's signal.
• Get off only at your assigned stop.
