GSK Science in the Summer – free summer program for kids

GSK Science in the Summer is a fun and free science education program sponsored by GSK, in partnership with The Franklin Institute.

Who:

Up to 20 families with children entering 2nd – 6th grade this fall can register to Be a Chemist!

What:

Practice real scientific techniques and explore basic principles of chemistry through a combination of hands-on experiments and live virtual feedback sessions with fellow student scientists, a Science on the Road educator and Q&A with a local STEM professional.

When:   

08/10/20 – 08/14/20

Participant families choose one of the four post-experiment virtual discussion groups

Share experiment feedback via ZOOM with members of all 4 Teams, exciting chemistry demonstration wrap up plus Q&A with a scientist

Where:

In your home via ZOOM!

Why:

Anyone can “do” Science! Choosing to Be a Chemist! will reveal strong connections between Science and your daily life today and a future STEM career tomorrow.

How:

Registration opens as early as 07/01/20. Space in each session is limited. Please contact the Wilkinsburg Library Here:

Each registered family will receive a free Chemistry Experiment kit to use at home and keep. These kits are designed to be self-led and include; supplies, an activity guide, access to supplemental videos, and the ZOOM sessions.

Kits will be available the week of August 4, 2020, via curbside (walk or drive) pick-up at the library. Limited kit delivery will be available to families that cannot pick up from the library.
