Metro Community Health Center Announces Dates for 2026-2027 School Year

Metro Community Health Center Announces Dates for 2026-2027 School Year

The Wilkinsburg School District is partnering with Metro Community Health Center (MCHC) again during the 2026-2027 school year to help make health care more accessible and convenient for our students, families, and staff.

Through this partnership, MCHC provides access to comprehensive health care, preventive services, state-mandated screenings, mental health support, and more. By bringing health services close to our schools, the partnership helps remove barriers to care, reduce absenteeism, and support student health and academic success.

Health Care at School with HOWie

A key part of the partnership is MCHC's mobile clinic, Heals on Wheels (HOWie). HOWie is a 38-foot RV equipped with two private exam rooms, a small waiting area, a restroom, and a wheelchair lift, allowing MCHC to bring health care directly to our school communities.

HOWie will be avaiable at each school from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Kelly Primary
    • Thursday, October 8, 2026
    • Thursday, November 12, 2026
    • Thursday, February 18, 2027
  • Turner Intermediate
    • Thursday, October 15, 2026
    • Thursday, November 19, 2026
    • Thursday, February 25, 2027

Kelly Primary students must have a parent or guardian accompany them to the appointment. It is strongly encouraged that Turner Intermediate students have a parent or guardian attend the appointment with them in person. However, we can video conference with parents and guardians who can't attend in person.

How to Register

Families must complete a MCHC Patient Registration Packet before receiving services. The packet can be completed and submitted digitally through the Online Patient Registration Webform.

Please note that the registration packet includes a consent form at the beginning that covers your first appointment. The registration form only needs to be completed once; however, a new consent form must be completed before each appointment.

If you, your student, or another member of your family needs care, please complete and submit the registration form. Once submitted, a member of the MCHC team will contact you to confirm your appointment.

If you have questions about MCHC or the services offered, please contact Patrick Buehler, MCHC Project Manager, at pbuehler@metrohealth.org.
