The Pennsylvania Right to Know Act is a series of laws designed to guarantee that the public has access to public records of governmental bodies in Pennsylvania. The new Right to Know or Open Records Law (Act 3 of 2008) took effect on January 1, 2009. This law presumes that all documents of all governmental bodies will be presumed to be open to the public unless the agency holding them can prove otherwise.
The Wilkinsburg School District recognizes the importance of access to public records. The public has the right, under law, to inspect and to procure copies of such records with certain exceptions subject to Pennsylvania’s Right to Know Law. Any citizen may request, in writing, a document of the District. This request must be made to the District’s Open Records Officer:
