Lost Food Due to a Power Outage? You May Qualify for Replacement SNAP Benefits

Who is eligible?

If you currently receive SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) and lost food due to a power outage, contact your County Assistance Office (CAO) as soon as possible.

How to request replacement SNAP benefits:

  • You must report your loss within 10 days of when the power outage/disaster occurred. 
  • Call your local CAO or Statewide Customer Service Center at 1-877-395-8930.
  • Complete a replacement affidavit form indicating the value of the food you lost. 

Is there a limit?

Yes, you may receive replacement benefits for the amount of food lost, up to the value of one month's SNAP benefits.
