Join the Wilkinsburg Public Library for their 2025 Summer Reading Challenge!

Starting June 23, kids can visit the library to sign up for the Wilkinsburg Public Library’s 2025 Summer Reading Challenge. The rules are simple: keep track of the number of hours you read or are read to, and earn raffle tickets for a chance to win awesome prizes! One hour of reading equals one raffle ticket, so the more you read, the better your chances of winning.

The fun kicks off with the “Be Creative and Color Our World” Magic Show by magician Steve Haberman on Monday, June 23 at 4:30 p.m. Don’t miss this exciting start to a summer of reading and imagination!

Readers who register and complete at least one hour of reading will receive an invitation to the “Invitation Only Ice Cream Social” on Thursday, August 14, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. This special celebration includes ice cream, cookies, crafts, and games—a perfect way to wrap up your reading adventure!

Library Guidelines for the Children’s Department:

  • The Wilkinsburg Public Library is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors.

  • All are welcome to attend library events.
  • Children under 8 years old must be supervised by a parent, guardian, or caregiver who is at least 15 years old at all times.
  • Children 8 and older may use the library independently but must demonstrate appropriate behavior and be able to care for themselves.
  • Please note: The Summer Reading Challenge is not a summer camp.

We hope your child will join in the fun and develop a lifelong love of reading this summer!
