On Monday, September 29, Turner Intermediate’s Safety Patrol students received their Safety Patrol belts. As members of Safety Patrol, students are expected to follow all rules, model the highest ROARS behaviors, and maintain exceptional standards at all times—not just in the classroom, but also on the bus, playground, and during after-school activities.
This year’s Safety Patrol team includes three third graders, three fourth graders, six fifth graders, and one sixth grader. Students have also been assigned leadership roles such as Captain, Lieutenant, and Sergeant.
Safety Patrol Responsibilities
Morning Arrival Duties:
- Cafeteria Duty: Assist staff with student flow, report any rule violations, and help students as needed.
- West & East Stairwells: Ensure students are not lingering, report rule violations, and help students as needed.
- 1st Floor (Office Level): Monitor that 5th and 6th graders do not enter this floor after breakfast and report rule violations such as running, lingering, or horseplay.
- 1st Floor (Main Lobby): Assist staff with opening/closing doors, managing the EVOLV system, and reporting rule violations.
- 2nd Floor: Help students get to class and report any rule violations.
Dismissal Duties:
- Bus Duty: Help ensure students board the correct buses calmly and orderly.
- Main Lobby/Front of Building: Ensure students exit safely, assist younger students to the crosswalk, hold doors, and help students locate parents.
- Stairwells: Make sure students exit safely, follow all rules, and report any issues to staff.
Safety Patrol members are expected to uphold these responsibilities consistently. Students may be added or removed from the team based on behavior and the needs of the school.
Congratulations to all students who made the Safety Patrol this year!
