Teaching Strategies GOLD
Teaching Strategies GOLD® is a research-based assessment system aligned with The Creative Curriculum. It helps educators observe and assess children's developmental progress, ensuring instruction meets each child's needs.
Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS-3)
ECERS-3 is a standardized tool for evaluating early childhood learning environments. It includes 37 items across seven subscales, such as personal care routines, language experiences, creative activities, and social development.
Acadience Reading and Math
Acadience Reading is a set of short, research-based fluency assessments that monitor early literacy development. It includes seven measures addressing phonemic awareness, the alphabetic principle, reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.
Acadience Math assesses students' numeracy, computation, and problem-solving skills. The assessments are aligned with the Common Core State Standards and serve as indicators of foundational math proficiency.
Classroom Diagnostic Tools (CDT)
The CDT is a Pennsylvania Department of Education online tool that offers diagnostic information in literacy, math, and science. It adapts to each student's instructional level and links educators to targeted resources within the Standards Aligned System (SAS).
Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA)
The PSSA is a statewide summative assessment that measures how well students have mastered grade-level standards in English Language Arts, Math, and Science. While it provides a snapshot of performance, it should not be viewed as the sole measure of a student's achievement. PSSA results help meet federal and state accountability requirements and inform instructional practices across schools.
Pennsylvania Alternate System of Assessment (PASA)
PASA is an alternate statewide assessment for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities who cannot meaningfully participate in the PSSA, even with accommodations. PASA meets federal and state accountability mandates for inclusive assessment systems.
ACCESS for ELLs
ACCESS for ELLs is the annual English language proficiency assessment developed by the WIDA Consortium. It measures listening, speaking, reading, and writing in academic and social contexts for students in kindergarten through grade 12 who are English learners.
The results guide instruction and services for English learners and help determine ongoing eligibility for ESL programs.
