This is the first victim service agency in Allegheny County and one of the first rape crisis centers in the nation. The agency was incorporated as a non-profit entity in 1972 and has been providing essential no-cost services to victims of sexual violence in Allegheny Country for over 50 years. As of today, PAAR is the only agency in Allegheny County solely devoted to the issue of sexual violence. PAAR provides comprehensive services to victims of sexual violence and their families, serving children and adults of all gender identities, ages, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
This hotline provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States. The Lifeline consists of a national network of over 200 local crisis centers, combining custom local care and resources with national standards and best practices.
Metro Community Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike (LAL) located in Swissvale. MCHC is a community-based organization that provides comprehensive primary care and preventive care, including primary medical care, oral health care, and mental health care services to persons of all ages and identities, regardless of their ability to pay or health insurance status. MCHC offers every patient high-quality compassionate health care. Their theoretical framework for treating patients is twofold, encompassing both comprehensive whole-person care, and patient-centered care. This farmer's market is held every summer. The market runs from June to October every Thursday from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the Harold Young Sr. Parklet (739 Penn Avenue, Wilkinsburg, PA 15221). Each week, you can find farm-fresh produce and a variety of local vendors.
